I'm a union member and community organizer running for Common Council to put Poughkeepsie over profit.

I grew up in Ward 8 in a working class immigrant family. During the Great Recession, we lost our house, and it took us over a decade to save up enough to buy another home here in Poughkeepsie.

After graduating from public schools and SUNY, I dedicated my career to serving our community. In my current role at a local grassroots nonprofit, I’ve helped lead successful campaigns to keep Poughkeepsie residents in their homes, regulate Airbnbs, and secure a commitment from the city to replace lead pipes. As a democratic socialist, I will make sure our city responds to the needs of working class people, instead of giving out 99-year tax breaks to corporate developers.

I’ve attended nearly every Council meeting in the last two-and-a-half years and walked every single street in Ward 8. I know how to work with elected officials at all levels of government and have built relationships throughout Poughkeepsie. I’ll be ready to go on day 1.

Priority Issues

Housing

If we want to live in a place where people know their neighbors and look out for each other, we have to make sure homeowners and tenants  aren’t being priced out of our community. I’ll fight to expand the partial tax exemption for senior homeowners and expose slumlords who are hurting tenants.

Infrastructure

Poughkeepsie can’t live up to its full potential when the roads and sidewalks are in disrepair and our drinking water has lead in it. I’ll fight for repairs, repaving, and replacement of all lead pipes.

Community Spaces

We need to invest in public spaces because Poughkeepsie belongs to all of us. I’ll fight to upgrade Spratt Park and build a Southside Community Center that can host programs for people of all ages.

District Map

Poughkeepsie Ward 8

I’m running to represent the same neighborhood I grew up in, Ward 8 in the southeast corner of the City of Poughkeepsie.

I’ve always loved that the Southside is a community where people know and care about their neighbors. But that is at-risk because rising rents and property taxes are pricing out longtime residents and a lead pipe health crisis is scaring people away.

We need a community champion who will fight for Ward 8 and all Poughkeepsie residents. That’s why I’m running for Common Council.
